Animation work for online games can get quite expensive quite quickly and therefore we are always on the lookout for talented individuals with experience in the 3d animation field to help out.

Currently Divergence Online and it's counterpart titles sport over 3000 individual animations per character in BVH motion capture format. Animators working for us face the task of converting and cleaning the multitude of crazy and intricate animation sequences we have into a universal BIP format all of our characters can utilize. Many of our animations are also incomplete and missing small details such as facial expression and the individual movement of fingers/hands/etc.

Animations working for us should be experienced working with Autodesk 3d Studio MAX version 6.0 or later and have generally experience with animated characters weighing in at 30-50 bones per character.

In our ongoing fiendish scheme to save money 99% of all graphical work done on the Divergence Project is done either freelance or pro-bono.

As with many roles involved in the development of our titles we currently keep a very small staff to handle most 2D Conceptual and orthographic work but welcome any and all wishing to pitch their own unique vision and designs for the DO universe.

In our ongoing fiendish scheme to save money 99% of all graphical work done on the Divergence Project is done either freelance or pro-bono.

3d Work generally weighs in at an exponentially heavier cost than 2D work and can be a very lucritive career in video gaming today. Virtually all of the 3d assets and art seen in Divergence is generated by one of three 3d outsourcing companies we do business with.

However because a company can quickly spend their entire budget on 3d assets before even getting started we are always on the lookout for a higher-quality / cheaper cost way of generating assets and are willing to divvy out work wherever we see talent.

Freelance work and work for pay later is always appreciated but we do offer offloading a small chunk of our 3d workload off to individuals with skill in the 3d department looking to build that resume and make a few dollars at the same time. We currently accept work in the form of:

  • Creating 3d Models themselves.
  • Skinning and texturing of 2D models (UV)
  • Rigging models and LoD work
  • Animation (See Animators)

The Divergence-Online Prototype and it's counterpart titles (To Be Announced) are currently built upon the C4 engine framework which is programmed with the C++ language. While our longterm goal is to eventually command the revenue necessary to procure a powerful, MMO-Based gaming engine, we have found the C4 engine to be the most malleable licensable engine for independant developers available today.

The overwhelming majority of work done on our prototype is programming and scripting and we on the dev team welcome all the help we can get from any skilled programmers wishing to lend their time and effort.

Any and all those willing to lend a hand can Click Here or email SGL Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Stephen Baynham at StephenB@Divergence-Online.com to get started.

Sorry, all paid positions are currently filled. Check back when we have more money!

Website and forum management are relatively easy yet time consuming jobs.

Web Admins are responsible for making certain that both the website (when applicable) and community forums are both secure with the most up-to-date php versions as possible as well as sniffing out potential security leaks as soon as possible.

Since Divergence Online and it's counterpart titles are all games which will link account, subscription and character info with the website itself web admins are scrutinized and held to higher standards than most but also draw a much heftier paycheck than many than many jobs.

Moderators (mods) constantly troll and monitor the community and dev forums for a multitude of possible iddues; be it arguements, holes in the pages themselves or just keeping the community from tearing itself apart while awaiting the next batch of info hot from the oven. To be a good forum mod is to be a good manager of people in general. Moderators generally make little or no money but are benefitted in the foot-in-the-foor factor of having worked alongside a development team as well as many fringe benefits of a healthy relationship with a video game developer i.e. early game access, discounts, special considerations.

Moderators for Divergence Online and it's counterpart titles must be themselves veterans of online gaming and MMORPGs in general enabling them to state and respond as needs arrise with a decent amount of actual perspective.

World Builders are charged with molding the various terrains, folliage and world-specific objects in the gaming world itself to create a realistic and believable world for our players to live in.

World building can be an exciting part of development and generally half of all those who apply in general apply for this job specifically.

Being a world builder is an in-demand job for those seeking to further their own career in MMORPGs or just online gaming in general for many reasons.

  1. World Building positions in the online gaming field generally have much lighter prerequisites with regards to gaming tools experience because nearly every world building interface is unique to every game.
  2. World Building is at least 90% GUI-based and requires less technical knowledge of most any video gaming job.
  3. World Building is a lot like landscaping; Anyone with a good eye can be a good World Builder with little effort.

Those wishing to inquire about joining the world development team should Click Here or email Ethan Casner at EthanC@stainglassllama.com

NOTE: We will not be recruiting additional World Builders until January 30th, 2008 at the latest. This date may change at any moment to hoepfuls are recomended to check this page weekly for any updates.
